Midsomer Murders

Since 1997 viewers in the  UK and abroad have been witness to murder on a grand scale in the "sleepy" English county of Midsomer. I saw "sleepy" because it is quaint and gorgeous and a downright dangerous place to live. There have been roughly 240 deaths or so, the last time I counted, in Midsomer. That is almost 3 deaths an episode in a idyllic English countryside.

This is classic mystery, however, and it cannot be missed. There are some real gems in this series that make it stand out from the rest. And the scenery is absolutely gorgeous, seriously I would immigrate to the UK in order to live in Midsomer. That is  if the scales were not stacked heavily towards me being murdered a rather grisly death.

The series follow the exploits of Detective Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby and his side-kick Sergeant of the series, they tend to change a bit. Almost every episode starts with a mysterious death that balloons into a full on rampage before Barnaby can figure it all out, typically over a nice glass of wine with his wife Joyce or by skipping a rather important date with his grown daughter Calli.

All in all this is a wonderful show that is a must see for all mystery lovers. The episodes typically do not need to be watched in order, but I would watch them in order to see some other the dynamic between Barnaby and Joyce grow and flourish. Also there are a few times when some old characters make a surprise return later on.

At some point we will be doing a Midsomer Re-Watch series here re-capping every episode in order.
