Inspector Lewis is the spin-off of the wildly popular Inspector Morse. It follows Morse's former sergeant Robert Lewis, now Inspector, and his side-kick sergeant James Hathaway, portrayed by the talented Lawrence Fox.
The series takes place in Oxford just as Morse, but it is more interconnected than Morse so continuity matters here and they should really be watched in order.
